On 19-22 September a 4-day long international summer school took place in Roskilde, Denmark. The 20 participants from four countries of the South Baltic (Denmark, Lithuania, Germany and Poland) had the possibility to see into different issues related to offshore wind energy. The summer school started with an overview of the status and challenges for offshore wind energy in Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden. Presentations has been given by partners of the SB OFF.E.R project. Following, different experts from the Wind Energy Division (Risø DTU) as well some external experts gave presentations about e.g. the technology status, satellite data and the use for offshore wind, environmental impact assessment, grid connection as well as public acceptance.
Moreover, during the summer school the test station for small wind turbines as well as SYSLAB – Intelligent house (Risø's new laboratory for intelligent distributed control) has been visited. Highlights of the summer school has been the joint study visit to Middelgrunden offshore wind farm (20 x 2MW) by boat as well as a visit to Copenhagen Energy A/S, where Søren Thorpstrup Laursen informed about new offshore wind farms in Øresund.
