Component 2:

In recent months, offshore wind energy (OWE) has become more known to the public due to discussion in the media of the upcoming Copenhagen summit and the increasing attention which is paid to renewable energy sources in general. However, knowledge among the South Baltic inhabitants about the potentials of OWE even in a shallow side ocean such as the Baltic Sea is still at a relatively low level. As a result, there is a lack of support or even opposition to OWE which is often based on wrong assumptions. On the other hand, the experience of the partners has shown that many local businesses are not aware of the chances which the growing OWE industry offers to them, and many business opportunities (especially cross-border ones) remain unrealised. Therefore, the presentation of facts about OWE and its potentials and the correction of prejudices among the target groups is of prime importance for the development of OWE and accordingly the most central objective of South Baltic OFF.E.R. Rostock Business and Technology Development mbH, Germany  is the responsible partner for this Component.

Exemplary activities and results: Project flyer, manual for potential OWES investors, joint declaration “South Baltic Offshore Wind Energy Vision”, etc.
